Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the GoldIndustrials and IT sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.01%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Nine Entertainment Co Holdings Ltd (ASX:NEC), which rose 14.01% or 0.18 points to trade at 1.47 at the close. Meanwhile, SGH Ltd (ASX:SGH) added 6.14% or 2.99 points to end at 51.65 and Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX:EVN) was up 4.89% or 0.29 points to 6.22 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX:MIN), which fell 6.93% or 2.43 points to trade at 32.62 at the close. CSL Ltd (ASX:CSL) declined 4.95% or 13.38 points to end at 256.96 and Austal Ltd (ASX:ASB) was down 4.58% or 0.18 points to 3.75.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 565 to 525 and 475 ended unchanged.

Shares in SGH Ltd (ASX:SGH) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.14% or 2.99 to 51.65. Shares in CSL Ltd (ASX:CSL) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.95% or 13.38 to 256.96. Shares in Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX:EVN) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.89% or 0.29 to 6.22.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.28% to 10.82.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.41% or 12.02 to $2,946.42 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.37% or 0.27 to hit $72.59 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.31 to trade at $76.18 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 0.63, while AUD/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 95.35.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 108.26.
