Russian President Vladimir Putin has pardoned Ksenia Karelina, a dual citizen of Russia and the United States. This development was reported by the TASS state news agency. Karelina was released as part of a prisoner swap between Moscow and Washington that took place on Thursday.

In return for Karelina’s release, Arthur Petrov, a Russian-German national, was released from U.S. custody. Petrov had been held by the U.S. authorities since 2023. The prisoner exchange marks a significant event in the ongoing diplomatic relations between Russia and the United States.
