Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic MaterialsConsumer Services and Financials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB), which rose 0.62% or 1.10 points to trade at 179.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (EBR:ELI) added 0.60% or 0.55 points to end at 92.45 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) was up 0.54% or 0.16 points to 29.74 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Lotus Bakeries (EBR:LOTB), which fell 3.09% or 280.00 points to trade at 8,770.00 at the close. Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) declined 1.88% or 1.32 points to end at 68.78 and Montea C.V.A. (EBR:MONTE) was down 1.52% or 1.00 points to 64.60.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 53 to 41 and 14 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.33% or 10.97 to $3,354.37 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.65% or 1.72 to hit $66.70 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.29% or 1.53 to trade at $68.40 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 98.57.
