The British government is working with Israeli authorities to organize charter flights for British nationals from Tel Aviv when the airport reopens, Foreign Minister David Lammy announced Friday.
“As part of our efforts to support British nationals in the Middle East, the government is working with the Israeli authorities to provide charter flights from Tel Aviv airport when airspace reopens,” Lammy said in a statement.
Ben Gurion Airport, Israel’s main international gateway, closed last week amid escalating air conflicts between Israel and Iran.
On Monday, the UK government advised British citizens in Israel to register their presence with British authorities. Officials stated they were monitoring the situation and evaluating options to assist their nationals.
The British government has also increased logistical support for citizens who have chosen to use overland routes to exit Israel through Jordan and Egypt.
