Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Transport and Communication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.30%.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.86% to 22.69 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.56% or 0.37 to $66.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.44% or 0.30 to hit $68.94 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.54% or 17.82 to trade at $3,343.52 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.40% to 146.85, while EUR/JPY rose 0.25% to 171.56.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 97.48.
