South Korean battery manufacturer Samsung SDI has reached an agreement to supply Tesla with more than 3 trillion won ($2.11 billion) worth of Energy Storage System (ESS) batteries over a three-year period, according to a Monday report from the Korea Economic Daily.
The deal was reported by the Korean newspaper, which cited an unnamed source in the battery industry.
No additional details about the specific battery types or delivery schedule were provided in the report.
Energy Storage Systems are used to store electricity for later use, helping to balance power supply and demand, particularly when integrating renewable energy sources into the grid.
