Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the BankingConstruction and Travel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 1.44%.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Aegean Airlines (AT:AGNr), which rose 4.64% or 0.62 points to trade at 13.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA) added 3.33% or 0.11 points to end at 3.41 and Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH) was up 3.05% or 0.29 points to 9.79 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Ekter (AT:EKTr), which fell 0.99% or 0.03 points to trade at 3.00 at the close. Alter Ego Media SA (AT:AEMr) declined 0.82% or 0.05 points to end at 6.03 and Alumil (AT:ALMr) was down 0.60% or 0.03 points to 4.99.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 87 to 30 and 12 ended unchanged.

Shares in Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.33% or 0.11 to 3.41. Shares in Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH) rose to all time highs; up 3.05% or 0.29 to 9.79.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.80% or 74.07 to $4,190.37 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.41% or 2.08 to hit $58.96 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.07% or 2.00 to trade at $63.16 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 99.40.
