India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the MetalsReal Estate and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.47%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.47%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK), which rose 2.00% or 16.60 points to trade at 846.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NSE:MRTI) added 1.32% or 208.00 points to end at 16,009.00 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NSE:TACN) was up 0.90% or 10.60 points to 1,184.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were JSW Steel Ltd (NSE:JSTL), which fell 2.91% or 34.10 points to trade at 1,135.90 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC) declined 2.81% or 22.45 points to end at 777.35 and Tata Steel Ltd (NSE:TISC) was down 2.57% or 4.43 points to 168.03.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.03% to 846.30, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 1.17% to settle at 15,983.50 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which gained 0.83% to close at 362.75.

The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.67% to 167.85 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 2.33% to settle at 1,606.95 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.25% to 1,005.35 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1875 to 604 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2747 fell and 1233 advanced, while 159 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 10.67% to 13.43 a new 3-months high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.75% or 30.36 to $4,029.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.59% or 1.53 to hit $57.47 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.26% or 1.43 to trade at $61.95 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 1.10% to 89.69, while EUR/INR rose 1.01% to 103.29.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 100.19.
