Google plans to begin developing and manufacturing its high-end smartphones in Vietnam this year, according to a Tuesday report from Nikkei Asia.
The tech giant will initiate new product introductions (NPI) for its Pixel, Pixel Pro, and Pixel Fold phones in Vietnam, based on information from sources familiar with the matter.
Development of Google’s lower-end Pixel A series will remain in China for the time being, the report stated.
This move represents a significant shift in Google’s manufacturing strategy for its premium smartphone lineup.
