Bitcoin climbed above the $76,000 mark in Asian trading on Tuesday, extending recent gains as improving risk sentiment and hopes for progress in U.S.-Iran talks lifted appetite for speculative assets.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency last traded 1.6% higher at $76,045.6 by 03:10 ET (07:10 GMT).
Traders eye US-Iran talks ahead of ceasefire end
Market sentiment was supported by expectations of diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad, ahead of a looming ceasefire deadline on Wednesday.
Gains were building on momentum from last week’s rally on Wall Street, where major equity indexes advanced on easing geopolitical concerns and gains in technology stocks.
“This pattern of rallies followed by quick pullbacks has become a defining feature of recent trading, highlighting a market that is capable of upward momentum but struggles to sustain it once key resistance levels come into play,” IG analysts said in a note.
Bitcoin has also drawn support from continued institutional interest and steady inflows into digital asset investment products.
“Whale activity has also contributed to the market’s choppy behaviour. Large holders have been seen accumulating during dips, helping to stabilise downside moves,” IG analysts added.
Kevin Warsh hearing, Fed outlook in focus
Traders also focused on a confirmation hearing for Kevin Warsh, U.S. President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Federal Reserve. The Senate hearing on Tuesday is being closely watched for clues on future interest rate policy.
In his speech on Monday, Warsh underscored the importance of central bank independence but warned that the Fed must “stay in its lane,” arguing it should focus narrowly on monetary policy rather than broader economic or political objectives.
Beyond rates, traders are also watching Warsh’s stance on financial oversight, as his views on regulation and market structure could shape the longer-term trajectory of digital assets in the U.S.
